Sportscene, established in 1992, is a leading South African retailer of sports-inspired fashion, footwear, and accessories. Known as the “kings of sneakerwear,” the brand blends global and local street culture with trend-relevant sports apparel to create a distinctive retail environment.

With a strong connection to youth culture and urban expression, Sportscene continually evolves its in-store experience — extending beyond retail to create immersive spaces that reflect music, fashion, and lifestyle.

At its Sandton City store, the vision was to bring hip-hop culture to life in a bold and authentic way.


Audionote partnered with Sportscene to design and build a fully functional, state-of-the-art in-store recording studio — transforming retail space into a creative cultural platform. The objective was to move beyond traditional store design and create an experiential environment where music and street culture intersect with fashion.

Every element was carefully considered to ensure both acoustic performance and visual impact — delivering a studio experience that feels authentic, immersive, and technically sound within a retail environment.

We also supplied Sportscene with the necessary studio equipment, such as: computer monitors, microphones, headphones, and lighting systems, to heighten the recording experience.

The result is a dynamic retail activation space that strengthens brand engagement, celebrates youth culture, and transforms the store into more than just a shopping destination.
